Overview
Our family emerges from grandparents who came to these mountains more than a century ago to work this land. In 2006, the Monge Azofeifa family decided to take one more step for that coffee passion they had had for so many years, and created Cafes Montes de Paz. This land was a coffee plantation already, so the Monges started an improvement of the plantation, renovation and enlargement of cultivars. The next year the oldest son and mentor of the family business past away, so the business changed its name to Cafetalera Jose Carlos Monge Azofeifa, in his honor. In harvest 2010-2011, the new plantations grew generously and we decided to participate in Cup of Excellence 2011, with the award of being in the finalist group. Cafetalera Jose Carlos Monge Azofeifa is a young developing company, and our aim is to be a family company and have a sustainable production, using clean technologies and sub products. Nowadays, the wooded areas of the farm and the springs are protected.
