Overview
Finca Manila is located in Nuevo Progreso, San Marcos, a very remote region far around 250 kilometers from Guatemala City. The range in altitude varies from 4000 to 5000 feet. Annual rainfall varies between 5 and 7 meters and temperatures goes from12 to 24?C. Finca Manila has a very important annex, Santa Rosalia which is formed by the highest peaks where coffee grows in San Marcos. Manila has a very steep topography and there are not internal roads only footpaths. The property has many natural water springs that supply water to many surrounding communities. The property begins at 5000 feet and reaches 5800 feet over sea level. At this altitude coffee can grow only on slopes that receive morning sunshine. Normally there are two or three hours of light during the morning, that allows coffee plants to survive diseases such as: ojo de gallo and phoma. Manila produces Bourbón coffee. To finish the process all beans are sun dried in patios and in greenhouses upon stretchers (parihuelas). Cup characteristics of our coffee are: very citrus, bold and sweet flavor.
