El Cipres is located at Barranca of Naranjo, Alajuela and it has belonged to Mr. Lorenzo Gonzalez Arguedas since the year 1885. He inherited the farm to his children and it has been the mean of Support for the family for 5 generations.
In 1985 Don Eduardo Gonzalez Villalobos, left the farm to his son, who is the actual owner of the farm and thanks to the hard work and dedication and love for coffee manages to buy the neighboring property giving as part of the payment working vehicle. Nowadays this farm has 6 hectares, set at a 1685 meters above sea level and produces the Villalobos variety which offers complex flavors to the cup.
We worked protecting the flora and fauna found in the farm as well as the water springs that go thru the farm. Mr. Alexander and a worker take care of the farm and on harvest season they have the help of the whole family mother and sons, who help during school vacations. They also hire a few other people to help during harvest paying a higher wage than the one established by law showing the workers the importance of picking high quality coffee.
The milling process is done by HELSAR de ZARCERO Mill, were the process is a semi washed, mechanical desmulcinage and 100% sun dried on cement patios and drying greenhouses protecting the coffee from excess humidity, the rain and letting in the sunlight and air flow.
