• Finca El Zapote has belonged to the Meléndez family for more than 100 years, being the current owner the 4th generation. The farm belongs to the 8th coffee region of Guatemala recognized since 2006 for its priviledge climate and geography for an optimum development of coffee plants of the arabica species. Their cultivation practices have sustainable principles of soil conservation and improvement. Our coffee plantations are cultivated under the shade of the trees forming an artifical forest and in this way being friendly with nature. From generation to generation we still conserve the tradition and experience of picking the coffee cherries by hand, tank fermentation and sun drying, so as to have an uniformity of the vean in color, size and density, carrying out a strict quality control. Currently, Finca El Zapote has three certifications: Rainforest Allience, Utz Café and 4C. In 2014 the farm won 1st place for the Spring Cupping For Quality, Rainforest Alliance (https://www.rainforest-alliance.org/press-releases/2014-spring-cupping)
