History of the farm
The owner, Eloi Batista Costa, runs the farm together with his family. The farm has excellent springs and is surrounded by a large expanse of the Atlantic Forest which protects the hilltop and the springs. It is part of a buffer area of the Serra do Brigadeiro State Park, a region in which the economy revolves around coffee. The temperature in the region varies from 18 to 22°C and the coffee fields are wooded. The property is managed with the help of daily workers, who are duly provided with literacy training and education for their children for a dignified life. Coffee processing system The harvest is done by hand, seeking to create jobs. After harvesting the coffee is washed, passing through the pulper. All the water used in this phase is recycled, with the use of decantation tank. Next, the beans are taken for drying on cement patios, then they are separated according to quality. After drying, the separated lots are kept in rest boxes and warehoused on the farm itself.
Concern about quality
The owner is extremely concerned about social and environmental matters and always seeks to improve the quality of his coffees by applying information and techniques learned in courses offered by Emater/Epamig and the Federal University of Viçosa. By applying the knowledge learned, the producer has been improving the quality of his product year after year.
