Leonel’s brother began planting a coffee farm of 0.5 hectares in 1995, but access to the farm was very difficult (1 hour walk to get there) and by the difficult climatic conditions the farm hardly produced, so he gave up. Leonel suggested him to allow him to work the farm and get it back in shape. His brother agreed and granted the estate; Leonel began working heavily, and in 2002 he had already recovered the estate and from then until the 2010, he sold his coffee in the conventional market. The following year with the support of some fellow producers and exporter San Vicente he began to prepare the first specialty coffees. Leonel began to participate in 2015 in the cup of Excellence competition and won year after year privileged spaces, such as last year in which he ranked in the 8th place. With what he received for their coffee last year his goal was to support hos children: one of them is studying high school in San Pedro Sula and the smallest (3 years old) needs physical therapy treatments which are costly.
