Descendants of Italian and Portuguese immigrants, the Ignotti family’s history of coffee production begins in 1986.
Wishing to bring the family closer together, Sebastião Almeida, Lúcia Elisa Ignotti’s father, encouraged his daughter and son-in-law, Ricardo Vagne Ignotti, to move from Paraná to the city of Patrocínio, MG, giving them a small piece of land for them to farm.
Coffee production began in a region known as Chapadão de Ferro in the city of Patrocínio, MG. Seeing the need to expand production, the Ignotti family sold the land which had started the great family dream and acquired a larger farm in the same region where they grow coffee to this day.
In 2016, production underwent another expansion when the family rented Fazenda Caixetas, located in the city of Guimarânia, MG. It was from this land, in its second harvest, that specialty coffees emerged.
Together with his parents, 28-year-old Vinícius Wagner Ignotti, a 4th generation coffee grower, seeks to produce excellent coffee in the Cerrado Mineiro, in the cities of Patrocínio and Guimarânia, through the natural, dry method process.
Currently the lands are run by Vinícius and his father, Ricardo. His mother, Lúcia, takes care of administration of the farms.
The creation of the Ignotti Speciality Coffee Group strengthens the family’s history and consolidates the continuous search for producing specialty coffees, cherishing sustainability and care for the environment.
The coffee chosen for this competition was picked with the highest percentage of ripe cherries. It was spread on the patio to dry for 14 days. After this phase, the coffee remained in a rest box to homogenize the humidity of the beans. Finally, it was processed and warehoused.
