NKUBA FARM STORY
KIJSCO Company is a corporate society initiative of Mrs. NISABWE Joselyne created in 2018 to operate in the coffee sector of Burundi. It is registered on number: 4001097189, Commerce RC:12531/18. Being at its 2nd year of operation, KIJSCO work with 867 coffee farmers among them women represents 65% from 20 hills around the processing plant "Dry processing". Being a single lady born of smallholder coffee farmer, I created my Kayanza International Joe Specialty Coffee Company with a main goal to sustain coffee farming in my rural community and to promote it to the international marketing to improve the income of householder and create employment of the youth. KIJSCO employs by the time 5 staff and 70 seasonal labors. To empower the community, my KIJSCO assisted 353 smallholder coffee farmers with health insurance. All this is done to support farmers who deliver coffee to my plant. Kayanza is known to be famous for high-quality specialty coffee but the living condition of farmers still is to improve.
On the side of professionalism in the coffee processing, KIJSCO is young in ages but it has a dynamic team of youth experienced in processing coffee from other ancient washing station. This enables me to win the 10th position in the CoE 2019. KIJSCO produces only Natural Coffee what distinguishes it from the rest of washing station which produce mainly fully washed and some natural. My big dream is to respond to the demand of the market and empower the community with good income from coffee farming
