Gashonga coffee washing station is owned by Gshonga coffee cooperative which is composed of coffee growers and farmers who initiated this business (99members) located in Rusizi District , in Western Province.
The idea come after that, they had noticed that in their sector (Gashonga) there was no processing facilities and their coffee cherries had been purchased to be processed in other areas other than Gashonga sector.
In 2009 they started the coffee washing station with only 63 members at that time, but till now it accounts for 99 members with around 30,000 coffee trees that supply around 90% of the total cherries processed at the coffee washing station
