Overview
Maria Deya Camacho was born the third of February of 1969 in Santa Maria – Huila, daughter of Pedro Camacho Nolasco and Mercedes Narvaez; coffee farmers for tradition, she grows up in her parents farm. When she was a teenager she was very athletic; she used to play basketball. When she was 20 she married Aldemar Alvis Manchola, after two years they got their first baby Sindy Lorena, and then they were working as the keepers of a farm, they started growing coffee by then and Mr. Jesus Santa the owner sold them a piece of land that is now the place where they built their house, the place where the 3 other children born. Actually the farm is bigger because of Maria Deya inherited 2 more hectares from her parents and after a while she bought 2 more hectares from her brother. As a family they have being working hard to cover all of the expenses that a farm and a family cost. She is member of San Isidro group, with her great efforts she could make it for her sons study one of them is a nurse auxiliary, another just got the high school degree and the rest two are in the primary school, she wants them to study and to get better future. This is her second time in the Cup of Excellence Competition and she is so proud of the quality coffee that she is producing in her farm. Care of the Environment The farmer is doing an adequate manage to the natural resources of the farm: – They dont do applications with toxic agrochemical products- They are protecting 1 hectare of native forest in the land- No cutting or burning of trees- Good manage of the residual water from the coffee process- No captivate animals- Planting new trees for shade Process
