My dad told me that my grandparents came from Heredia, Central Valley, because there was an eruption of the Poás Volcano and the family split up. Some stayed in Heredia and my grandparents came to San Ramón, West Valley, in search of free land to work.
The farm is located in Santiago de San Ramón. The property has more than 100 years of belonging to our family, first, belonged to my father who was the youngest of 15 brothers, he bought one part and the other gave it as an inheritance. My father was born in 1905 and he died at 83 years old and my mother was born in 1908 and died at 93 years old, they had 12 children and I Sergio Salas Jimenez, I am the youngest of them, now I am 66 years old.
We have lived of the coffee activity all our lives and I say we have because all my family works in this beautiful activity, we are coffee producers.
My wife and I had 5 sons and all of them together with their wives, my 11 grandchildren and I, we work on the farm that is between 1100 and 1350 m.a.s.l. surrounded by mountains and puts a lot of effort and dedication to the care of this because for us it is a priority to give good care to the coffee plantations since it is our main source of income.
Because of this, we have a high sense of belonging to the company Café de Altura of San Ramón Especial S.A
This company, we created with great enthusiasm among a group of farmers from Ramón for 14 years now and every time we see it better and we try to be more competitive in the world of coffee to offer a high quality product to those who demand it and value it. We believe it worth it and we have given the best effort.
In conclusion, I think there are many things that can be said to summarize the experiences throughout all these years in the coffee activity. There is nothing left but to thank those who have believed and placed their trust in us, because we are many producers that depend on the activity and we want to continue contributing with the little what we have to be better every day.
