History
I am a woman who was born and grew up in the middle of coffee trees. My husband is also a coffee grower per tradition. I have three sons. Im bought the farm three years ago from another grower of the region. I have two water sources in the farm, which is a valley between two mountains. The name LA ISLA (The Island) is because the farm is located between two small rivers (La Soledad and El Secreto). I am currently a member of the Associative Group "El Jordan".
Environmental Care
As the farm has 2 sources of fresh water, I take special care of the native forest in their borders. I don't allow the people to hunt in the farm. I look for the preservation the native species of birds such as Azulejos, Toches (oriols), Mirlas, Woodpeeckers, and also small mammals. Native trees as Guamos, Yarumos, Acacias, Flor Morada, Caimo, Laurel, Naranjos, Cambulos, Avocadoes, Cedros, etc., are protected as well.
Coffee Processing Information
I use the pulp of the coffee as an organic fertilizer as well as chemical products twice per year. The main crop is between May and July. Broca control is cultural (Re-Re).
