KOPAKAMA is located in Mushubati Sector, Rutsiro District, in Western Province and has coffee farms on steep hills at high altitude. It started in 2005 and is owned by a cooperative known as KOPAKAMA.Up to date, the cooperative is composed of around 600 members who cover around 370 ha in addition to that individual farmers who are not yet members are also allowed to supply cherries to the CWS. The main sectors where the CWS extend its activities include Mushubati, Mukura, and Gihango in Rutsiro District, and Rubengera Sector in Karongi District.
The KOPAKAMA cooperative has been certified FAIR TRADE and is striving to acquire ORGANIC certificate as well. The CWS operates under the following climatic conditions:
