Layo Hibret Sera Mahber Union, established in 2002, has 1,700 coffee farmer members in West Guji zone, Uraga woreda, Layo Teraga kebele, Oromia. The members collectively have 2,700 hectares of coffee land.

The union currently produces 200,000 kilograms of specialty coffee, and 190,000 washed varieties, locally known as Kudhumi, Welichu, and Meti. In the Cup of Excellence competition, the union became one of the 11 national winners, scoring 85.71. “The members are very happy because of the effort to maintain quality brought us success. This encourages us to do more,” said union representative Assefa Basa Dube. “We expect a competitive and fair price.”
