Overview:
I was born in the village of Pedregal located in the municipality of Santa Cruz on August 15th of 1968. When I was 7 years old my parents enrolled me in the school El Pedregal, until I was 12 that I finished elementary school. Then, because my parents didnt have enough money I couldnt continue studying and that was the reason why I dedicated myself to help my father on the agriculture jobs. My father was very dedicated to the ground; we grew coffee, sugarcane, beans, corn and banana but with the course of time, my father aged and died. Time later, with some savings I had, because of my daily labor, I decided to buy part of the farm to my mother and I started to renovate the old Typica coffee with Caturra variety. Along years, this variety was strongly attacked by coffee rust and the plants productivity declined, so the Extension service of the Colombia n Coffee Growers Federation recommended me to plant Castillo variety that is resistant to coffee rust, that has good characteristics of cup and that is of excellent production.
My biggest wish is to see my farm as a more productive one, improve my infrastructure, build a place for the beneficio and develop a parabolic dryer.
