Café Don Alfonso is a family business dedicated to the cultivation, processing and marketing of specialty coffees. The Farm is located in the Cordillera de la Sierra Madre de los Cuchumatanes in Guatemala, belonging to the municipality of San Pedro Necta and La Democracia, in the department of Huehuetenango, with coordinates: N 15º 34 ’11.24” W -91º 49 ’51.63”. The company manages 3 farms: Calahute, Calahute Alto and Café Don Alfonso with a total extension of 220 hectares. The coffee plantation is located at a height ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 18 ° to 25 ° C, rainfall of 1,300 to 1,800 mm per year and a relative humidity of 55 to 80% . These fertile lands are cultivated with coffee varieties such as: Caturra, Catuai, Borbon, Pacamara, Catimor, Parainema and soon Geisha under the shadow of inga and gravilea trees. Currently, the farm is managed by the third generation of the Anzueto family, who have worked it since 1952 when the production was approximately of only thirty (30) quintales of parchment coffee. They continue working with the same mission of producing differentiated specialty coffee, keeping up with good agricultural practices that are friendly to the environment. At Finca Calahute we specialize in the production of high-quality coffee, that’s why we devote a lot of resources and time to the investigation and research of agronomic and post- harvest processing, always seeking to obtain the best characteristics of the varieties produced in the farm to exceed the expectations of our customers.
