German Valenzuela Gomez, was born in December of 1969, son of Ludovicio and Maria de Jesus, traditional coffee farmers; married with Mrs. Abellaned Carvajal conforming a nice home with their kids Juan Sebastian and Javier Eduardo. He is a coffee grower this is the inheritance that his father let him. He is being in the coffee lots since his infancy; he played as a kid among the coffee trees, and he grow up with the coffee culture, that is why he is working hard today; to make sure that all of the changes of the coffee culture this days can still make it to provide him and his family a better live. With his constant work for the quality, he has participated in two competitions of Cup of Excellence; he was number second in the 2nd version of Cup of Excellence Colombia . He also works at the purchasing point of the Cooperative of Coffee Growers of Huila CADEFIHUILA in Pitalito. The farm El Progreso was formed 10 years ago, with 15.000 coffee trees of caturra variety. Today, it has 30.000 coffee trees in 5 ha. The coffee lot Villa Juan produces an average of 3759 kg of parchment. Care of the Environment Today the farm is sustainable, it has three certifications: Rainforest, FLO and Cafe Practices. With the support of his family and neighbours he is being an environmental, social and financial leader. They are now a team that takes care of the soil, water, trees, flowers, fauna and the whole environment. The coffee process is by using the ecologic mucilage machine, trying the best for the quality and the environment. For the drying they use the sun trough the parabolic system. The farm is administer by a family that voluntary gives its knowledge for the preservation of the environment. They support this family with employee and the option of having a better life with the production of coffee. Process
