Caferwa Ltd is one of the oldest coffee exporters and have 4 washing stations and the Dry mill is located in Kigali which allows us full control of the supply chain from cherries received from our washing stations and processed through our dry mill ready for export.
Gishugi coffee washing station has staff that has 20 years of experience in processing and quality control. Together with good relation with farmers and good will to offer awesome quality to the consumer, they have concluded to care their farm and harvest cherries fully ripe. And after pulping, the dry and wet fermentation process follows and the beans are fully washed with spring water. And finally the beans are slowly sun-dried and hand sorted many times by women.
Gishugi coffee working station works very closely with the neighboring coffee farmers grouped into Abizerana cooperative. The cooperative is composed of 137 coffee growers/farmers (55% women) who are located into different sectors including Shangi, Nyabiteri, and Ngoma where they grow coffee.
Beside supplying the cherries to the factory, they have established a mechanism that support farmers to improve their life in additional to what they get out of coffee, this include a selling point for other crops which is financially supported by the coffee washing station but the business is in hands of coffee farmers. By this way coffee farmers are encouraged to work closely with the Coffee washing station.
Caferwa provides health care for cooperative members as well as training and fertilizer for farmers who deliver cherries to the Shangi washing station.
Caferwa is among the three portfolio including SOCOR Ltd, Karengera Ltd of Kznoir ltd investment plan in Rwandan coffee companies. All together and its portfolio companies has 8 coffee washing stations across Rwanda and 2 dry mills.
Kznoir specializes in processing and exporting high end specialty coffee worldwide while building a sustainable, transparent and longterm relationships with farmers that supplies their cherries to the coffee washing stations.
