Overview:
She was born in Samaniego located in the department of Narino, on august 7th of 1944; her parents were Carmela Yela and Francisco Perez. She got married with Mr. Eliecer Betancourt in the year of 1970 with whom she had three children, Francisco, Javier and Gilberto Betancourt. They lived during 20 years in the path of El Salado in the farm called La Placa but in 2009 her husband died. She is a woman who grew rounded by coffee plants, who carries coffee in her blood and the coffee roots in her heart, her thoughts revolves around her family, her children, her grandsons and her coffee farmers.
She is a woman characterized by her compromise and her achievements in social benefit and in the fight against poverty and social equity in country people communities, not only in her municipality but also in the entire department. She is manager of projects, such as the development of educational centers, aqueducts, coffee farmers houses, and some others.
Mrs. Aura is an example of personal growth and worthy of emulation because of her social, academic and gremial achievements. Her training as regional public manager of the Superior School of Public Administration, has led her strengthen and exercise her leadership in the Administration Council of the Western Coffee Growers Cooperative during more than 20 years and during more than 16 years in the Departmental Committee of Coffee Growers of Narino. She is a woman that has made a valuable contribution to the development of regional coffee growing, from her previous participation on the Samaniegos Municipality Committee and now from the Coffee Growers Cooperative and the Departmental Committee of Coffee Growers of Narino.
The coffee country recognized her value as a community leader and led her to the maximum dignity of the organisms of the gremial representation of the Colombia n Coffee Growers Federation. She was the president of the LXVIII National Congress of coffee growers done in Bogota city in 2007.
