At the community Aguanqueterique of the municipality Santa Elena department La Paz is located the small farm Matazano owned by a small coffee producer called Roberto René Ventura ranked 23B in the COE event.
Roberto produces Catuai variety at an altitude of 1715 meters above sea level, and states that feel very happy to have taken advice and training for technicians of the IHCAFE that has implemented with great care and dedication to his farm and thus achieve one of the best coffees of Honduras .
Happily married and father of three girls, he dreams of the day they become professional and very happy says they want to be an engineer, doctor and teacher respectively.
Roberto combines conventional and organic fertilization has given very good results. He uses all coffee pulp and water waste to produce compost that is then the main organic fertilizer on the farm. During harvest he and the people who help him have learned to pick only the ripe cherries and milling does the same day. The fermentation takes 24 hours, then washed coffee with clean water and put it to dry in shakers, is as he gets excellent coffee.
To Roberto, coffee is one of the most special things in his life because at the beginning he had no home, since he has the coffee farm and with the help of God and his wife has been able to build their house.
