History of the farm
Fazenda Pedra Redonda is located in the city of Araponga, the soil is predominately moist, dark red, fertile latosol. Coffee crops vary in elevation from 980 to 1400 meters. The farm has 30 full-time workers and during harvest season this number increases to one hundred ten. Children and teens are not hired by Fazenda Pedra Redonda until they are sufficiently old for the work.
Coffee processing system
After being harvested, the coffee is washed and then goes through the pulper. The water used in this phase of the processing is completely recycled. Next the beans are taken for drying on suspended or cement patios, where they are separated according to quality. Then the coffee goes through a stone picker, sieves and an electronic bean selector.
Concern about quality
After bring prepared on the Farm, the coffee goes to Armazens Gerais Carapina in Eloi Mendes, where each lot receives its identification number and is stored until its final sale.
