Farm Story:
The Optimismo farm was founded in the 70’s, his owner decide undertake the project with optimism and vision, honoring the name of the farm. The Optimismo is located in Tecapa Chinameca mountain in Alegría city, department of Usulutan, it is located at 1,550 meteres above sea level.
In the 80’s during armed conflict, the development of the farm of almost 40 cultivated hectares was severely affected, large areas were lost, currently there are 23 hectares that El Optimismo has cultivated.
The farm has other varieties of coffee, mostly has bourbon planted, but also has pacas. The coffee process is washing and drying, preparations of honey and natural batches are also prepared.
Every year a work plan is elaborated with the help of a technical assistance who follows the plan and supervises the management of the work on the farm
In order to carry out the work, people living in the San Juan canton and neighboring communities are hired, and technical training is provided to update them on different topics such as: crop diversification, work methods and rust control.
Optimism has protected areas, it is not allowed to cut trees because it has a great variety of vegetation, its fields are full of pine trees, conacastes, oaks, guayaba trees and pepetos. It is also prohibited to hunt, among the fauna that exists on the farm is: toucans, woodpeckers, skunks, cotuzas, pigeons, deer, coyotes, coots, snakes, tacuacines, chickens etc
On the farm you can see landscapes worthy of El Salvador, overlooking the bay of Jiquilisco, the Alegría lagoon and the river Lempa.
Finca Optimism has participated in different opportunities in the Cup of Excellence competition having won multiple times in different places, which confirms the excellent quality of coffee produced.
The farm El Optimismo since its inception has been a family business, José Armando and his wife Socorro were dedicated for 40 years to the cultivation of these lands. With the death of both, their four children have continued the legacy of their parents, aspire to expand the areas of cultivation and to obtain greater production with the quality that has always characterized them, putting all the effort and the heart into producing each cherry with quality excellence
