Esperanza Verde Estate, Matagalpa Representative: Yelba Valenzuela It seems to be a great combination: good coffee and a nice place to relax. These two options are founded in one spot, the farm Esperanza Verde. This farm produces one of the best 10 cups of coffee of Nicaragua . Due to its ideal connection between beauty and classical ambiance, this coffee farm has been awarded with international prices, which are shown in the main ranch of the farm. Melvin Castrillo is the manager of Eco Albergue. He tells us about the elements that make Esperanza Verde worth it to be imitated. Our guests are invited to share the experience of the coffee picking and all its process... but we also tell them the advantage that is to preserve the natural surroundings. The whole energy that its used at night time is generated by solar panels. The water is from a water spring from the nearest mountain. This water is used both to remove the pulp of the coffee and for all the needs of the shelter Yelba Valenzuela who represents DURHAM- San Ramon Sister Communities, a group of Americans supporting this project, emphasizes: Worker receive a fair treatment. They are benefited with the profits of the farm since these are reinvested in order to improve the working conditions and to offer a monetary incentive to the workers. The team that works at Eco Albergue is of local people and they have turned this ecotouristic project in one of real excellence. The traditional coffee pickers are also locals.
