Fisa Dike Bare, 43, is a coffee farmer from West Arsi, Nensebo Woreda, Nensebo Chebi kebele, in a village known as Yema Sera in Oromia. He started coffee farming in 1999 on 6 hectares of land. Each year he produces and sells 18,000 kilograms of natural dry coffee to local traders. “The traders mix coffees when selling, which diminishes the quality of the coffees,” said Ato Fisa. “I am a simple farmer. I don’t even know where to start if I wanted to directly export.”
During this year’s Cup of Excellence Ethiopia competition, he submitted a lot that scored 87.64 points. “I am so excited that my coffee will be finally known internationally. I know I produce quality, and it is about time this type of opportunity came my way,” said Ato Fisa.
