Lot#28 El Alto
Producer: Luis Enrique Navarro Porras
Monte Copey Micromill is a family project, in which the passion and heritage of growing coffee began more than a half of century ago. Today we have become the fourth generation that continues this legacy that has been passed from generation to generation.
El Alto is located at 1900 meters above sea level. From the highest point, there is a great view of Dota Valley and the green mountains of Tarrazú Coffee Region.
This is a plantation of the Caturra variety. El Alto provides the ideal microclimate conditions combined with altitude and agronomic management for great coffee. Coffee grows under a terrace system and modernized fertilization in which soil and leaf analyses are an important part of the annual support.
Its name has a double meaning to the family. “El Alto”, which means “The Height”, was the name of a grocery store; the family business for over 30 years that gave sustenance to the family and from where we obtain the economic push to buy the coffee plantations the family has nowadays. This name represents the love that the family has to the business as well as being the highest point of the farm.
