History of the farm:
Around 1925 the owner’s grandparents began producing coffee on the farm. At that time, rural family life was different. Almost everything planted was for their consumption. Only the excess was commercialized and thus counted toward the family income. They lived an isolated life and it was difficult to buy or sell goods outside the community. José Adalto followed in his parents’ and grandparents’ footsteps and has been producing coffee for 28 years. It is his main activity. A short time ago, he increased his knowledge about quality coffees and became interested in them. Inspired by his neighbor’s successful experiences, José Adalto has been improving the management of his crops, improving his practices and consequently producing higher quality coffee.
Environmental concern:
José Adalto cares about the environment. He preserves springs and riparian forests. He produces coffee in a manner than does not interfere with them. He does not see obstacles in Brazilian environmental laws. He is also concerned with the situation of the waters in the region, which he was observing flowing less and less.
