Shiferaw Kursu’s farm is in Yergacheffee woreda, Worgida kebele, Jima village, SNNPR. He started coffee farming in 2016 and currently collects 8,000 kilograms of red cherry from his 4 hectares of land.
He produces natural dry coffee on an African bed. “I used to sell my coffee at ECX, until I found a local buyer from Addis Ababa,” said Shiferaw. Once he learned about the Cup of Excellence Ethiopia competition, Ato Shiferaw submitted variety 74112, which scored 88.57 for 13th place. “I am so happy and excited, and I look forward to market and success, due to this achievement,” he said. Ato Shiferaw plans to encourage other farmers in his community to enter the competition next year.
