History of the farm:
Fazenda Paraíso was acquired in the year 1977, coffee and banana crops being planted soon after, agricultural activities that suffered devastation from climactic problems three times, in the years 1979, 1981 and 1994.
Located in Serra da Pedra Branca, belonging to the Mantiqueira ridges, the property is full of native forests and crystalline springs. The site further presents characteristics favorable to coffee growing, such as temperate climate and continuous ventilation. From the top of Serra da Pedra Branca, which is 1826 meters in elevation, one can contemplate a panoramic view of the entire region, a fact that gave the name to the neighborhood where the farm is located: Bairro Bela Vista (Beautiful View).
Coffee processing system:
Harvesting is done by hand, and the freshly harvested coffee is transported to Chácara Santo Inácio, in the neighboring city of Pedralva, MG, where the installations in which the coffee is immediately washed are located. Drying is initially done on concrete patios coated with asphalt sheets for a period of one day. From there the coffee is transferred to greenhouses that are open on the sides and covered with plastic, where it is rotated from 6 to 8 times per day until it reaches the ideal humidity for storage.
Concern about quality:
Concerned about producing quality coffees, the owner of Fazenda Paraíso sought the technical support of agronomist José Carlos de Oliveira and other member produers of COCARIVE – Cooperative Regional dos Cafeicultores do Vale do Rio Verde, located in Carmo de Minas, MG, in addition to the encouragement of Jacques Pereira Carneiro and Luiz Paulo Dias Pereira Filho, from Carmo Coffees. He also relies on the valuable support of Café Fértil, located in the city of Pedralva, MG, Natal Marcos Pereira and Benedito Moreira da Silva Filhos, for preparation and tasting his coffee lots.
