Nestled in the volcanic range between Ataco and Ahuachapán resides a blessed fertile property, Finca El Amel, that the Ariz Herrera family has managed for the past 130 years. Throughout these 397 hectares you will find broad-leaved forests of jade Green rising up steep slopes, above 900 meters of altitude. The yellow-green savannahs then slope down the valley, resting at the bank of the El Molino river. This fertile ground was named, "Amel", in Nahuatl meaning "an irrigated land", and we have kept this name for the love and respect of our heritage coming from our indigenous ancestors, from who inherited the land.
The property has been under the management of the Ariz family for five generations, beginning with Don Manuel Ariz Herrera who was the first to cultivate the property in a tenuous expression of a productive forest. Over the years, the property was dismembered, accommodating the growth of the family that has taken care of it and developed it to what it is now, a property of 137 hectares of majestic landscape, delineated by the abrupt forms of the Cerro de la Cruz in front of the city of Ahuachapán.
