This estate was inherited by my grandfather Leoncio, in honor to him, I call the farm with his name. It is located in Lourdes of Naranjo and it has more than 80 years to be ours, it has been inherited generation by generation. My family is wonderful, we are 5, my wife, my three daughters and I, all of us are very involved in this activity because we depend on it. This activity allows us to cover all necessary expenses, such as food, education and others.
The varieties planted in Leoncio farm is Villa Sarchí, Kenia SL28 and San Roque. The coffee is picked by Panamanian natives, who are specialists in picking 100% ripe cherries. This is my first year experimenting with a natural process coffee, I usually don't work this process because I personally prefer a washed coffee. I decided to try this variety, San Roque, with this process since I have seen how popular, a good natural process, has become to COE buyers.
CAFETALERA HERBAZÚ was founded in 2000 – 2001, as pioneering in the Coffee Processing in Costa Rica, it is composed by four brothers, who process their coffee and the coffee of 4 more brothers. Our great strength, is that we process the coffee of our lands, and for that reason we can control the whole coffee process, from the planting to the milling. And this is how we take care of the 100% quality coffee. Leoncio won the first place of Cup of Excellence in 2015.
