60 years as a coffee grower and since 20 years ago, he conformed a family with his wife and 5 children. They produce in the farm as well, beans, corn, peas and lately granadilla, which is a Typical tropical fruit from Colombia . He was an associate of the cooperative of coffee growers of his municipality. Alonso is a coffee grower with a good reputation in the community, he had the opportunity to receive training in the Manuel Mejia Vallejo Foundation in Chinchina (Caldas), several years ago, he believes in the Federation and in the technical support from the Extension Service.
There is a lot of 1.5 hectares of native forest close to the Agua Negra river in his farm. He uses the pulp of the coffee with red worms to produce his own fertilizer. It is clear for him the commitment with the preservation of the environment and the natural resources, flora and fauna for the next generations.
Coffee Processing Information
He uses the traditional wet milling process as per the suggestions of the Extension Service. He take control of the water and the wastes of the coffee during the depulping process. The drying process is done with the solar drier.
