Grupo Los Grandes de Copey project was born in 2011, with the goal of producing the highest quality coffee. Thanks to the families, Salas and Monge, who had the vision to develop what today is Hacienda Copey.
All the management of the farm is in charge of family members, who take care of every detail of the process to produce an excellent coffee.
Area: 90 hectares (222 acres)
Location: 9°39 '00ʺ North and 83°54'45ʺ West
Altitude: from 1900 m.a.s.l. (6233 feet) to 2160 m.a.s.l. (7086 ft.).
Coffee Varietals: Each micro-plot is differentiated by a coffee varietal, among which, the most common are Catuaí Rojo and Catuaí Yellow in the lowest lands. In the middle lands there is Villa Sarchí and Villalobos, while in the highest lands we have Geisha.
As protection for coffee, we use shadow-casting trees such as “cuajiniquil” (Inga sapindoides), “arrayan” (Meinmannia pinnata) and “Australian cherry” (Syzygium paniculatum).
This farm won the “First place COE” last year.
