Duberney decided to be coffee producer 13 years ago. He rejected the idea of settling down in the city and always dreamed of studying, working and having a good quality of life in the countryside. He is a lover of nature which made him become a forest technician.
He recognizes all the effort implied in the production of a high-quality coffee. Four years ago he decided to focus on the high-quality coffee production and today grows Gesha and Caturra varieties on his farm. Duberney participated in 2017 for the first time in the Cup of Excellence competition and with the professional assistance, he presented to the competition a blend of 60% Gesha and 40% Caturra which made him be part of the 6 presidential places.
This year he decided to submit a lot of Gesha which gave him the second position in the contest, being this an example of consistency and improvement with his processes. Duberney keeps pursuing his dream of producing coffees of excellence and he expects to keep submitting his coffees in order to find the best partner to start a long term commercial relationship. Thanks to the last year achievement which was made with a lot of effort, Duberney felt motivated to create a new project in his farm: a 3 hectares plot of land where he has started to grow other varieties such as Sl28, Pink Bourbon, Sidra and Gesha at 2,050 m.a.s.l
He explains that this time he submitted a Gesha half washed and half honey processed. This decision was supported by his cupper in order to create more balance and sweetness in his coffee.
