Farm Story:
Atzumpa is owned by Andres Acosta, who is currently the sixth generation of coffee growers from the ARIZ-HERRERA family. The Ariz-Herrera family were pioneers harvesting coffee in the privileged region of Apaneca- Ilamatepec.
Manuel Ariz migrated from Galicia, Spain in the 1850s to El Salvador, and together with his wife, Josefa Herrera, started their coffee business in the city of Concepción de Ataco, Ahuachapán.
They started a long family tradition that was continued their daughter, Matilde, their grandchildren Mario, and 2 generations more, that until nowadays continue to produce employment and social well-being in the community for more than 150 years.
Atzumpa is nowadays harvesting and processing specialty coffee to provide a better quality of our coffee to everyone.
We have the following varietals cultivated in the farm: Bourbon elite, Arabica, F1, Cuscatleco and Pacamara.
We process our own coffee in a small coffee mill inside one of our farms.
The processes that we do with our coffee are washed, honeys and naturals on clay patios and raised beds.
