History of the farm
In 1985 Sileimar Sampaio and Antônio Marcio retirmed to the city of Viçosa to start working with coffee and milk at Fazenda Águas Férreas (Iron Waters). At first, the coffees were dried on dirt patios. The name comes from the presence of large quantities of iron oxide in the springs and streams on the property. The passion for coffee and for the region has led future generations to continue the process of perfecting coffee cultivation. The farm is located in the city of Araponga, in the Matas de Minas region, near the Serra do Brigadeiro State Park, with altitudes between 800 and 1000 m.a.s.l. The micro-climate is favorable to the production and quality of Arabica coffee. Some areas of the property are suitable for mechanization of planning and later harvesting. The coffees are prepared and processed on the farm itself. The farm also works with beef cattle, raising, breeding and fattening them. The well-being of the animals is important, anti-stress pens have been built. The farms works with the Nelore breed of cattle and with the Catuaí 44 and Catucaí IAC 44 varieties of coffee.
